The series of cream-foam Glatte manufactured in Germany especially for the VIS Pharmaceutical s.r.o. (Czech Republic).
The statements about the properties of Glatte is also based on numerous studies of the properties of carbamid as a component of cosmetics, carried out in different countries of Europe and America. Below you will find the presentation of the facts.
Glatte contains a complex of substances ( carbamid, shea butter, avocado oil, etc. ) with a high degree of proximity to the natural condition of the skin. Their use provides a moisturizing effect, keratolitic effect, improves skin condition.
* The studies called carbamid in accordance with the international classification - like Urea. Currently, carbamid is prepared according to the technology that provides the most natural, but excluding the use of human biological fluids. Nevertheless, the chemical name Urea left in practice.
It should be understood that the creams with carbamid are cosmetics and provide care. Glatte is not a drug and does not cure the disease. Its mission - to provide care for dry skin, have difficulties.
Consult with your doctor if you are going to use Glatte as an additional moisturizer on the background of existing diseases!
Testing of the cream-foam Glatte held in Prague, Professor Peter Arenberger. According to the results of testing produced the report.

3. The use of urea and its derivatives in the cosmetics industry
Alicja KAPUŚCIŃSKA*, Izabela NOWAK – Faculty of Chemistry, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań,

One of the most important activities of chemical cosmetic moisturizing properties. Well hydrated skin is elastic, looks young and the softened layer of keratinocytes improves the penetration of active ingredients into the skin. One of the most effective ingredients used in cosmetic moisturizing is carbamid (urea).
Urea is a diamide of carbonic acid (urea, CAS 57-13-6 number). This occurs as odorless, colorless crystals whose melting point is 133ºC, readily soluble in water.
Cosmetic Activity of carbamid is applied to the skin depends on its concentration in low concentrations (3-10%), shows the carbamid indirectly moisturizing activity. It is not hygroscopic, but modifies the chemical structure of the protective protein binding site water, thereby increasing the water content in the stratum corneum. In this way, urea reduces transepidermal water loss by reducing the water gradient in the epidermis as compared with cells in the dermis. At higher concentrations (10-30%) carbamid decomposes hydrogen bonds in the keratin leading to its denaturation and solubilization
Dermatological products containing carbamid at high concentrations, it is recommended to patients suffering from psoriasis and other skin conditions with excessive and abnormal skin keratinisation
Urea cosmetics synonyms: Carbamid; Carbamid resins; Carbamimidic acid; Carbonyl diamide; Carbonyldiamine; Isourea; Urea 75; Pseudourea; Ureaphil; Ureophil; Urevert
Adverse effects on human skin urea were not known until now. Urea, as a natural compound of the human body, do not show allergic properties.
1. Distribution and keratolytic effect of salicylic acid and urea in human skin.
Lodén M1, Boström P, Kneczke M.
Apoteksbolaget Central Laboratory, Stockholm, Sweden.
The study investigated the absorption of salicylic acid and urea, skin and extent of removal of the stratum corneum. When applied to the skin of 10% of its effect on urea stratum corneum maintained from 3 to 6 hours.
2. Use of a urea, arginine and carnosine cream versus a standard emollient glycerol cream for treatment of severe xerosis of the feet in patients with type 2 diabetes: a randomized, 8 month, assessor-blinded, controlled trial
Federici A1, Federici G, Milani M. Diabetic Foot Service Monterotondo , Rome , Italy., J Am Podiatr Med Assoc. 1998 Jul;88(7):332-6.
The efficiency of 8 months of applying the cream with urea, arginine and carnosine compared with a cream based on glycerol in patients with type 2 diabetes who have had a severe conjunctival feet. After 4 weeks of cream with urea showed a greater percentage of skin hydration.
When observed for 8 months seen that the use of urea, arginine and carnosine cream increases the hydration of the skin and reduces skin dryness in patients with type 2 diabetes compared with creams based on a simple glycerol.

Urea has long been used to improve dry skin. This study compares two creams (one formula contains urea and sodium chloride - salt, and the other another urea). After 2 weeks of use parameters were measured moisture content of the stratum corneum. The study demonstrated that the moisturizing effect was the same.
2. Therapeutic Moisturizers in Eczema and Xerosis Management
Anil Kurian, MN1 and Benjamin Barankin, MD, FRCPC2McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, CanadaToronto Dermatology Centre, Toronto, ON, Canada
A remarkable moisturizing effect is already apparent within a week using a carbamid-based creams.
In the long term it reduces the susceptibility of urea for dry skin and eczema skin irritation in contact with the usual means of hygiene (shampoos, soaps), such as sodium lauryl sulfate.
Carbamid-based creams with a higher concentration are more conspicuous keratolytic (softening / unloading) effect. Lower concentrations are generally used on the body, whereas a higher concentration may be applied to the skin of the solid skin, such as the legs.
3. Instructions for patients with allergic diseases
European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation – ECARF, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin
Careful skin care is the best foundation for the effective treatment of atopic dermatitis. Creams and ointments maintain the balance of the most important substances in the skin and comprise urea to recover the water deficit.
4. Topical treatment by urea reduces epidermal hyperproliferation and induces differentiation in psoriasis.
Hagemann I1, Proksch E.
Act Derm Venereol. 1996 Sep; 76 (5): 353-6., Department of Dermatology, University of Kiel, Germany.
The mechanism of action of urea in psoriasis is known partly associated with the strengthening of the processes of exfoliation of dry skin. In this study the lesions of psoriasis treated with an ointment containing 10% urea. As result the hydration of the skin with psoriasis was doubled, and the thickness of the epidermis decreased by 29%. Research has shown that urea has a positive effect on the correct cell renewal in case of psoriasis.
5. Emollients, moisturizers, and keratolytic agents in psoriasis.

Bioskin, Berlin, Clin Dermatol. 2008 Jul-Aug;26(4):380-6. doi: 10.1016/j.clindermatol.2008.01.015.
Emollients, humectants, and keratolytic agents are needed with additional treatment of psoriasis. Uluchsheenie protective function of the stratum corneum and epidermis moisturizing makes the skin more resistant to external stress and inflammation m. Most softeners are high-lipid (including oils). Keratolytic agents, especially salicylic acid, and a higher concentration of urea to be used in the initial phase of the course, while moisturizers and emollients particularly useful in the intermediate phase and chronic remission of psoriasis.
It should be understood that the creams with carbamid are cosmetics and provide care. Glatte iss not a drug and does not cure the disease. Its mission - to provide care for dry skin, have difficulties.
According to the final results of the survey of 20 test participants at the "Francia e Quirinale" (Montecatini Terme, Italy), 96.8% of respondents were satisfied with the ease of use and moisturizing effect. The period was the use of 5 to 14 days to survey polled adults of different sex and age.
